I Will Be With You

Our hope is that God’s presence is greater than our imperfect choices.
Every promise God makes is ultimately rooted in His promise to be with His people.
Joshua
Joshua 1:5-9
No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.
7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Paul
Acts 18:9-11
One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. 10 For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.” 11 So Paul stayed in Corinth for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God.
To Isaac:

Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you…

I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go…

To the returning exiles:
Haggai 1:13
Then Haggai, the Lord’s messenger, gave this message of the Lord to the people: “I am with you…”
To Mary:
Luke 1:28;30-35
The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
To the Apostles:
Matt. 28:20
…and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always…
Different people. Different fears. Different centuries. One promise.
2 Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
The promise isn’t that one door is perfect.
The promise is that God goes with His people.
