Foxes in the Vineyard – Week 5 (2-4-24)

Foxes In the Vineyard
February 4, 2024 – Week 5
The Disconnected Fox

In some situations, this statement rings true:
ABSENCE MAKES THE HEART GROW FONDER

However, in many of our most important relationships absence doesn’t make the heart grow fonder…
ABSENCE MAKES THE HEART START TO WANDER

When you’re disconnected, where does your heart wander?

Song of Songs 2:15 —> Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin our vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom. The Disconnected Fox

John 15:1-2
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.”

John 15:4
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.

Maybe the reason we wander and get disconnected is because deep connection can be uncomfortable.

John 15:12-17
This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another.

What causes you to become disconnected?

Don’t lose your marriage to a mirage.

Commitment:
I promise to surrender daily to Christ being transformed into the image of Christ.
